THE partner of a Westcliff dad brutally murdered in the street has welcome his killer’s life sentence after the brutal attack “broke” their family.
Beloved dad Gary Hindle was killed by Barry Mooney in Hamlet Court Road in July in a shocking attack that sparked an outpouring of sadness in the community.
Killer Mooney, of Crowstone Road, Westcliff, was jailed for life on Thursday and told he would be ineligible for parole for at least 26 years after admitting murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Speaking to the Echo, Annette Savill, Gary’s partner of more than three years, has paid tribute to Gary and further condemned his killer for “taking away her happiness”.
The attack saw a second person stabbed and left with life-changing injuries which still impact him to this day.
Annette said: “He is lucky that he didn’t murder two people, I am disgusted and his actions have broken everybody and taken my happiness and that of his mum and dad.
“No one should have to bury their children and his daughter is beside herself. He has taken away my happiness and everything.
“While I am glad this has been sorted, Barry could not deny that he was guilty, it was black and white what he did to my Gary.
“It is without parole, he will stay in there until he is 81 years old, he will never see the light of day and I say good riddance.”
Annette paid further tribute to Gary, as “the sweetest man” who would help out anybody if he could.
She said: “He was a nice and likeable man, a bit loud but everybody knew him, he was the sweetest man and he would help anybody out, if his last penny was in his pocket, and he made me feel special all the time.
“I thought he was number one, we would have gotten married but Barry has taken my happiness
“My youngest granddaughter idolised him, he was special.”
