Police are on the scene of a serious crash in Westcliff this evening.
West Road is closed and “will be for the coming hours” after a pedestrian was hit by a car this evening.
One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We are at the scene of a collision in West Road in Southend.
“We were called to the scene at about 8.15pm with reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
“One person has sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital by the East of England Ambulance Service.
“The road is currently closed and will be for the coming hours.
“If you have any information or dashcam footage in relation to this incident, please contact us quoting incident number 1133 of today, Sunday 1 December.”
