A prolific shoplifter from Basildon has been jailed after being caught in a high street he is banned from.

Police officers were alerted to the incident taking place in Dagenham Heathway on November 28. 

At the scene Keith Sears, 45, of Beambridge Place, Basildon, confirmed to police that he was in breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order.

(Image: Metropolitan Police) The order places restrictions on his whereabouts, preventing him from being on Dagenham Heathway or in Elm Park Broadway, Havering, as a result of his prolific shoplifting. 

He was arrested and taken into custody. 

On November 29, Sears was sentenced at Barkingside Magistrates' Court to 16 weeks imprisonment.
