A WHEELCHAIR basketball ace gave his schoolmates a chance to sample the high-speed sport when his team staged a training session at the school.
James Palmer, 12, a pupil at Mayflower High School, Billericay and a member of the Essex Outlaws junior team, invited his coaches to session at the school.
Teacher Rachel Smee said the lesson helped to broaden pupils’ understanding of people with disabilities.
She said: “It’s a great way to promote more of an understanding for the students. It teaches them something new.”
The Chelmsford-based club is for players of all abilities, including paralympians and beginners. Father and son coaching team, John and Alan Mansell, visits schools, universities and even prisons to promote the sport.
