A POTHOLE plaguing a busy Billericay street is causing concern.
Fed up town councillor Terry Gandy, who has worked for years to rid the town of unsightly and dangerous cracks in the road, is demanding something be done about the gaping hole in High Street.
Mr Gandy, who represents the town’s West Ward, has been keeping tabs on the pothole which is on the roadbridge opposite the Crown pub.
He said: “This is a pretty big crack that could damage cars.
“It’s one of several potholes in this area that need to be filled in now.
“We were promised by the council this work would be carried out by September. Well, we’re now into November and it’s not been done. With the cold months now approaching, potholes only get worse. This one in particular is causing me concern.”
Michael Page, spokesman for Essex County Council, which is responsible for dealing with potholes, said: “We are due to carry out resurfacing work in this area, which will include repairs to a sunken roadside gully, which will start on November 9.”
