Who can we trust these days? Certainly not the person who came past my house and stole some cash which was going to charity.
For over 20 years, I have been growing tomato plants and selling them outside my house. Anyone passing is invited to take what they want and leave the money in a dish.
Someone couldn’t resist helping themselves – not to the plants, but the money.
That’s what happened on Friday when about £3 disappeared.
It wasn’t a large amount, but everything can help to fund some research into cancer.
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation will still get a donation to help with their work. Why should they suffer because one sad person lacks decency and honesty and believes they have got away with it?
But to all those who came along, bought a few plants and left some money I have to say thank you. Sir Bobby would have appreciated that. He had no time for cheats on or off the field.
