A FAMILY returned home from work to find burglars had broken in.
The crooks had smashed their way into a bungalow in Stambridge Road, Rochford, using a lump of block paving.
They used it to break the UPVC doors causing about £200 damage.
The keys had been left on the inside of the door in the lock, making it easier for suspects to then reach through and gain access.
They rifled through cupboards and drawers but nothing appears to have been stolen.
It happend between 7.55am and 4.35pm on Thursday June 9.
PC Layla Barker said: "The fact that nothing was taken suggests that these burglars may have been disturbed. This occurred in broad daylight and I ask anyone who heard the smashing of glass or saw anything suspicious to come forward".
PC Barker can be contacted at Southend police station on 0300 3334444.
