It would appear my understanding of the English language is not what I thought it was.
Virtually every company dealing in the purchase of cars for scrap are endeavouring to outdo each other in their adverts by offering a “guaranteed” amount higher than their rivals.
My dictionary says the word guaranteed is a promise.
However, in the small print of the advertisements it states the amount offered is subject to the condition of the vehicle.
Two points spring to mind, the first being the advertised amount is not actually guaranteed and nowhere does it clarify what condition the vehicle has to be in.
You could, therefore, offer your non-runner for sale, only to be offered a far lower price for any spurious reason.
