We are seeing those who work in the public sector take a stance against what they see as an unjust attack on their pensions.
Aside from the argument that the belt-tightening is more to do with right-wing ideology than any response to the deficit, there are some questions that need answering.
The best estimate for tax avoidance and evasion puts this figure at £120billion per annum.
We are witnessing a banker-created problem being solved by the not-very- deep pockets of the disabled, students, young families, and now public sector workers.
Why are bankers still getting largely untaxed bonuses? Why doesn’t this Government hire more tax collectors?
Of course it is right that if there is to be pain then we all should take some of it.
However, this Government is duping people into thinking that somehow fairness equates to hammering the vulnerable.
Today’s scapegoats are civil servants, teachers, nurses and policemen, council workers and all others for whom public service is their chosen career path.
Big Society? Big con.
Rather than lambasting those in public service we should be honouring them.
Without them we would have no society.
