What a great idea! An airport in the Thames – or at least half in the Thames and half on the Isle of Grain (Echo, Nov 3).

Imagine all those shockwaves from hundreds of planes a day, thousands of people at the airport and hundreds of staff.

All this within a mile of the Richard Montgomery, the ammunition ship that sank in the approach to the River Medway in the Second World War. It’s still full of shells and it’s too dangerous to move, so it will be left where it is.

Well done to the architect who thought up this plan. He must have more lead in his brain than he has in his pencil.
