I believe Castle Point Council generally does a good job when it comes to recycling.
Your recent report (Nov 16) about the success of the recycling programme leading to 13 more jobs proves the point.
But I must agree with Dot Palmer, whose objections to having to pay for food recycling sacks you reported.
The sacks and their containers are not exactly large, and I dread to think how a family with several young children copes with the food waste.
A limited number of sacks were supplied by the council when the food recycling scheme was launched, but it was made plain that when these ran out, we would be expected to buy our own replacements, or wrap the waste in newspaper.
Like Dot Palmer I, too, wrap my food waste in old newspaper.
I hope the council does not change the rules on this because if it does, it will find many people will refuse to buy the sacks and simply not recycle their food.
Which would be a great shame, because food recycling makes good sense.
