Yet again, Tesco rolls on with its ambition to take over every available site in the country, regardless of the effect it has on local traders.
We now learn it proposes to open new stores at the Geoff Bray car dealership, in Eastwood Road, Rayleigh, and in London Road, Rayleigh.
In London Road, residents are already served adequately by the existing parade of shops, and the opening of Tesco will not improve.
Instead, it will affect the traders who have worked hard to build and maintain their businesses.
The Eastwood Road site is highly contentious, having already had nearly 100 objections from residents.
The site is about 100 yards from a Co-op, so why was it approved?
Also, there is another Tesco store in Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, near Progress Road.
From a safety aspect, the entrance to Geoff Bray and the new Tesco is only yards from a zebra crossing, which is very busy during school hours.
Customers and large delivery lorries will continually drive in and out of the site, creating traffic congestion and an accident waiting to happen.
