Like many people, I went to see the fantastic Christmas light spectacular on Saturday in Southend town centre, which was a nice day out as the Christmas lights were turned on.
The only downside was when a local dancing school had a number of girls up on stage, dancing to different pop songs.
My issue is with the very raunchy song by the popular artist Jessie J.
This is acceptable for those of a certain age to listen to but, due to some of the language and risque undertones of the number, it was a poor choice to have girls as young as eight dancing to.
The fact these girls were wearing red lipstick was cause for concern enough, but then to have these same girls on stage, dancing to the Do it Like a Dude number, was disgraceful.
Whose idea was it for these girls to actually grab at themselves during the lyric “grab my crotch”?
How can something like this be deemed as anything other than appalling?
These girls were far too young to know what they were dancing along to, and the incident just showcases how stark the loss of innocence in childhood is becoming.
I’ve contacted Jessie J about this so she can be made aware of how one of her songs was used in an inappropriate manner, because this was disgraceful.
Maybe the dance teacher overlooked the seriousness of the song and should have chosen something more family-orientated.
