Life in general seems to be more and more uncomfortable for pedestrians.
Living in Leigh, it is at times bordering on dangerous if you are elderly and needing a trolley to carry the shopping home.
Cyclists just about skim past and walking up or downhill becomes a major task. Turning a corner is even worse, as they appear from nowhere.
I understand young people loving to speed about, but there are laws which do not seem to be enforced.
Maybe one way to accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians would be to make one pathway a no-go area for cyclists, and the other available to all.
Obviously there would be a need to erect posts or coloured lines to indicate the safe area for pedestrians.
I have had several near misses, and if an injury should occur, the cyclist would no doubt speed away.
Seems to me that all cyclists should be proficient enough to use the side of the road, I certainly did this when I used a cycle.
