Strange isn’t it? Southend Council allows Tesco to put up yet another of its shops right in the heart of town, yet on numerous occasions it has persistently disallowed a planning application by my lovely Leigh dentist.
He wants to demolish an old bungalow next door that he’s bought to rebuild and improve his much-valued services. The planning committee seems very good at wielding its authority over the little guy, but when faced by a power greater than itself can only surrender like big girls’ blouses!
Don’t tell me Tesco is to have an in-house dentist alongside its much-heralded hairdressing salon too? I wonder if they’ll do chiropody too? I give up!
