If hell would have to freeze over before the ‘Occupy’ tent movement could light your fire, it might be worth considering that those prepared to camp out in the cold at St Mary’s Church, Victoria Avenue (Feb 20), should be warmly welcomed here.

The little tents may yet succeed in leading the way to a more socially inclusive Big Tent.

I pray the Church authorities don’t get so hot and bothered as to take Southend Council’s emergency planning officer’s unholy advice in order to get rid of them at the earliest opportunity.

Those who say that nothing can ever change might further consider this.

Our world has known three systems – slavery, feudalism and capitalism – so who’s to say what’s coming next may be something new and improved For nothing stays the same – it never has.
