WALK, run or cycle around picturesque marshland as part of a new event.
On Saturday, March 17 the Wallasea Wallathon will be held at Wallasea Island giving people the chance to walk the entire coast of the island.
The RSPB is inviting cyclists to start at 10am, travel along the northern seawall by the edge of the River Crouch and then following the slightly rougher terrain round the inside of the seawall to the east and south of the island, discovering parts of the island not normally explored.
Runners will follow the same route a little later at 10.30am and walkers can begin at 11am and wander the route in their own time.
To coincide with this event, the ferry service from Burnham-on-Crouch will be launched under new management. This service will continue to run every weekend, costing £3.50 per person each way, until October.
The Crouch Village link bus, run by Wyvern Community Transport, also runs from Rochford Station via the Essex Marina. The Burnham Ferry will run from the Burnham town jetty to Essex Marina.
