In these cash-strapped times with local councils making decisions about where to make the next cuts in public services, I recommend any councillors involved in these decisions should read the Library Book by Seth Godin, which is a collection of writings about the all-round value of public libraries.

It gives a very futuristic view of our libraries as much more than guardians of dead paper, but as places where people come together (aided by a librarian) to do co-working and coordinate and invent projects worth working on together.
