After seeing the emergency doctor at Southend Hospital on Sunday, I was admitted as an emergency patient.
There is much criticism of the hospital and the NHS generally.
However, my experience was solely positive.
The doctor was extremely thorough with his physical examination and listening to my problems. He rapidly decided I needed immediate hospitalisation.
There was no delay in locating a bed in the acute medical unit and I was sent to Dowsett Ward, where my treatment was outstanding.
Everybody, from the consultant to the most junior person on the ward showed total professionalism and kindness to every patient.
Many of the patients on the ward were far from easy to nurse.
My efficient treatment and care resulted in my discharge some 28 hours later, to continue medication at home.
I can only praise the hospital’s organisation and efficiency.
