AN ELDERLY woman who came face-to-face with a burglar in her bedroom is urging his mum to shop him.
Brave Kathleen Digby, 80, ordered the man out of her home in Mendip Crescent, Westcliff, after he woke her.
But he still managed to take her handbag containing £100 cash - and scare her half to death.
She is now hoping his family will read the Echo and have a crisis of conscience.
She said: “I hope people might read it and it might prick his conscience.
“Or someone who’s been sheltering him, even his mother, might know something about it.
“You never know, a mother might say ‘Why did you do it?’ “You just don’t know.”
The burglar was white, in his early thirties, slim, and about 5ft 6ins tall. He was smartly dressed, with a white shirt and trousers.
Anyone with information should call Southend Target Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
