THE family of a teenager who was killed in a crash alongside two of his friends have paid tribute to him.
Ashley Jones, 19, who had recently moved to Canvey with his mum, Vivian Fegan, died in the collision on the A10 near Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire, on Friday, November 9.
His friends, Harry Ferrand, 17, and Jack Boyton, 17, both from Enfield, Herts, were also killed when the Vauxhall Corsa they were in ploughed into the back of an articulated Mercedes lorry.
A fourth teenager, Liam Bradshaw, 17, who was also a passenger in the car, is still fighting for his life in hospital.
Football mad Ashley, who supported Arsenal FC, was born at Chase Farm Hospital and grew up in Enfield.
He briefly moved to Canvey to live with his mum Vivian Fegan recently. However, preferring life in Enfield, he had moved back after just a few days.
Mrs Fegan said: “He was a typical teenager, but he had a really dry sense of humour and was very witty. He enjoyed life.
“He was very sensible too and on the morning of the accident had applied to be an apprentice electrician.
“He was my rock. He was always there and he was always very respectful of me.”
He also leaves behind his grandparents Ray and Kathy Boreham, who also live on Canvey, brother Billy, 17, and sister Naomi, 11.
Mr Boreham added: “All the boys were really well known as the nice boys on the estate.
“The boys supported different teams, but they never argued about it.”
Ashley went to Lea Valley High School and went on to train to be an electrician at Hertford Regional College, in Ware, before studying brick laying at the same college.
In 2001 he was team mascot at the very first game of the newly formed Enfield Town FC, after the break away of Enfield FC.
