A LONG established former family business in Leigh has gone into liquidation.
County Interiors, in London Road, closed suddenly on Friday and a notice has gone up announcing the news and directing customers with outstanding order to an accountants firm.
The company, founded in the Seventies, sold handmade upholestry and suites.
It has a warehouse at Benfleet and another store in Springfield Road, Chelmsford.
It is understood at least six members of staff are to be made redundant.
Manager of the Chelmsford branch Andy Smith said: “The firm are doing everything they can to resolve as many customers with outstanding orders as possible. Hopefully very few people wlll be let down.”
He said stock from the Leigh shop had been moved to the warehouse and a liquidation sale of goods will be held at some point from the Chelmsford store.
Mr Smith added: “It’s a real shame, we sell nice hand built products but in this climate people don’t want to spend on the nicer things they want to buy cheaper. I’ve been with the firm for almost 11 years and I’m going to be out of a job. It’s very sad.”
Any customers with concerns or questions should call the shop on 01245 265595 or Accura Accountants in London on 020 8444 2000
