A WOMAN was taken to Southend Hospital after a fire broke out in her home.
Firefighters from Southend and Shoebury were called to the terraced cottage in High Street, Great Wakering, at around 1pm today.
They spent more than 20 minutes extinguishing the flames with one hose reel jet.
A high-pressure ventillation fan was used to clear smoke from the cottage before the crews left the scene.
The casualty, in her 50s, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
