A PEDESTRIAN asking for directions needed immediate surgery on neck and leg injuries after he was hit by a car.
A 58-year-old man from Westcliff was left with a deep laceration to his leg and a neck injury after he was hit by a blue Ford Escort estate at the junction of Campfield Road and Hinguar Street, Shoebury, at about 5.40pm yesterday.
The man is believed to have got out of his silver Honda CR-V and crossing the road, possibly having spoken to some people to ask for directions.
Investigating officer PC Steve Catton said: "I would particularly like to speak to anyone who was approached by this man in Campfield Road so I can ascertain what he was doing prior to the incident.
“Unfortunately the man has no memory of the circumstances leading up to the collision."
The 20 year old local driver of the Ford Escort was uninjured. The police released the information this morning.
Any with information should call PC Catton at the Southern road policing unit at Laindon on 101.
