A MAN has been found guilty of a murder in a Westcliff flat following a trial at the Old Bailey.
Vincent Harty, 39, from Wakering Avenue in Shoebury, tortured and killed Roy Sly at a flat in Station Road, Westcliff.
The body of Mr Sly, 53, was found at the flat on January 10 with horrific injuries.
Harty denied the murder but was found guilty by a jury at the London court today.
He was on trial alongside Peter Smith, 37, from Furnace Row in Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil who was found not guilty.
Lisa Turner, 32, from Snake Lane in Southend, had previously pleaded guilty to the murder.
Both she and Harty will now be sentenced back at The Old Bailey on December 20.
In a statement, Roy Sly’s family, said: "There are no winners in Roy’s case. We have lost a very dear father, grandfather, son and brother. Nothing can bring him back. "
