A MOTORCYCLIST killed on the A127 had been trying to get to work to support his family.
His grieving wife, Vicki Simpson, thanked people on the Echo website for their kind comments about her husband Chris.
She said he had been an amazing husband an father, and loved to ride the motorbike he was on that day.
The tragic accident happened when Chris, 43, who is from Southend, collided with a lorry on the London-bound carriageway near the Mayflower retail park.
Witnesses said he appeared to have skidded on black ice when the accident happened at about 6.40am on Tuesday.
His wife said: “I just want to say, this is my husband Chris who was taken from us so suddenly today, he was an amazing husband, a wonderful Dad and my best friend.
“He was just trying to get to work to earn a living to support his family.”
She said that he had been a safe rider and that she had been out and she had felt comfortable enough to ride with him.
She said: “He loved riding that bike and I know how careful he was as i have been out riding with him so many times on the back.”
The Echo website was flooded with comments from people who said their thoughts were with his family.
Vicki said: “ I can't begin to tell you how this has affected us today. I can't believe how cruel this world is sometimes. You sleep well sweets.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing for witnesses.”
