HOLIDAYS on the Cornish coast will be just an hour away for Southend Airport passengers from next summer - from just £62 return.
The Echo can reveal easyJet will announce new flights from the town to Newquay today, with the first plane scheduled to touch down on June 20.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s UK commercial manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be announcing this new route from Southend to Newquay, which opens up a fast connection to the ‘English Riviera’ and its great beaches, restaurants and attractions. The new service makes the South West much more accessible and certainly a lot faster to reach than the current road or rail alternatives.”
Newquay will become the 15th destination to feature on the departures board at the airport, when it appears next year.
There will be flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
