FOUR masked raiders escaped with a haul of gems after robbing a jewellers.

Staff were working at Frederick James - a jewellers and pawn brokers - on Broadway North in Pitsea when the raid happened at 10.20am today.

The four robbers, all wearing black clothing and balaclavas, forced their way into the shop before carrying out the raid.

They got away with a stash of watches and gold jewellery.
