THREE fire engines had to be sent to a college after a blaze broke out in a hair salon used for training students.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire which started in a tumble dryer in the hair salon of South Essex College in Woodview, Grays, at 1.41pm on Friday.
The whole of the small ground-floor room was on fire when crews from Orsett and Grays arrived.
The fire was out by 2.05pm and a-high pressure fan was used to clear the building of smoke.
