A man has been charged with eight offences in connection with a car crash at Canvey.
Police were called shortly after 2am on Saturday December 22 following reports that a car had been abandoned after crashing into a wall of a property in Thorney Bay Road.
The car was later found to have been taken from an address in Thorney Bay Road a few minutes earlier.
Following a search which involved a dog unit and the police helicopter a man was arrested nearby at about 2.45am.
Craig Voyce, 19, of Mayfield Road, Dagenham has been charged with: aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to stop after an accident, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, using threatening behaviour towards a police officer and resisting a constable in the execution of his duty.
Voyce has been detained in police custody to appear at Southend Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Monday December 24.
