ARMED police were called out last night after reports of a man seen with a gun in his waistband.
A member of the public contacted police after seeing the man, who was accompanied by a second man walking in North Road, Westcliff at 6.40pm.
It was reported one had a firearm in the waistband of his trousers.
Armed officers attended and two men were arrested in Prittlewell Chase, Westcliff near to Southend Hospital at 8.10pm
A 19 year old man from North London and a 39 year old man from Enfield remain in police custody.
They were arrested on suspicion of possession of a section one firearm.
