A QUICK-thinking neighbour who disturbed three burglars has been praised by police.
The men smashed in the front door of a house in Knightsbridge Walk, Billericay, belonging to a woman in her fifties.
After hearing the disturbance just before 1pm yesterday, a vigilant neighbour shouted at them forcing them to flee.
The burglars only had time to help themselves to a two-figure sum of cash before being stopped.
Investigating officer, Dc Andrew Rowley, said: "This is a great example of community spirit. This man’s actions could well have prevented these burglars from stealing a lot more, and causing his neighbour a whole lot of misery.”
The suspects are described as three white men, aged in their twenties, who wore tracksuits.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Dc Rowley, or his colleagues at Basildon, on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
