CANVEY’s coastguard was called to rescue two teenage girls after they got into trouble on the Chapman Sands.
A member of the public raised the alarm after spotting the girls at around 2pm yesterday.
The Southend RNLI inshore lifeboat was tasked, but the girls arrived at the shore before the lifeboat launched.
The Coastguard gave the girls safety advice about the effects of incoming tides and the danger they had put themselves in.
