A PLAN by two neighbours for a 100-space car park for airport passengers in their back gardens is set to be thrown out for a second time.

Planning officers have recommended Southend Council refuse Steve Murray and Jim Peacock’s plan for a car park behind their cottages in Eastwoodbury Lane, Southend, next Wednesday, as they say it would spoil the area.

The Government backed the council’s refusal of Mr Murray’s previous plan for a 64-space car park behind his property in December, as jobs created failed to outweigh the effect on his neighbour and increased traffic, but he reapplied with the new joint-proposal with Mr Peacock, who lives next door.

Mr Murray, 48, who has run Westbourne Building Services in the area for 25 years, said: “Why can’t we do it? We aren’t hurting anybody.

“It’s not going to cause any unnecessary problems.”
