A WOMAN was seriously hurt after two teenage girls punched, kicked and stamped on her.
The 29 year-old fell to the floor unconscious and was left with a swollen face and bruises across her body following the unprovoked attack in Wickford High Street.
She was approached by the two teenage girls, who asked to borrow her phone to call a taxi, outside Wickford Grill and Bella Pizza.
The woman, from Wickford, refused and instead made the phone call for them herself.
As she walked away towards Wickford train station, the two girls pounced and grabbed her hair.
They punched, kicked and stamped on her as she lay on the ground, causing her to fall unconscious.
Pc Hazel Kelly, investigating officer, said: "The victim suffered substantial injuries including swelling to the face and head as well as a considerable amount of bruising to her body.
"She has had to have time off work and spend numerous days in Basildon Hospital for treatment as well as having to attend follow up appointments at her GP.
"These injuries, now two weeks on, are still causing the victim a lot of discomfort. I would strongly urge anyone who may have information about the assault to get in touch."
Police want anyone who was in the area at the time or recognises descriptions of the teenage attackers to come forward.
The first girl is thought to be around 15 years-old, 5ft tall and of medium build.
She had medium-length bleached blonde hair and was wearing extensions and dressed in gold criss-cross pattern cock wedged heels.
The second attacker was a shorter, white female with long wavy hair and wearing dark patterned clothing.
She is believed to be around 14 years-old and 4ft tall.
Anyone with information should call Pc Kelly or her colleagues at Basildon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
