BOOZE will be banned when football is shown on the new £27million Forum’s big screen – over fears of hooliganism.
Southend Council will ban the sale, or consumption of alcohol outside the new library, set to open in Elmer Square, at the end of this month.
The move comes after Ron Woodley, Independent councillor for Thorpe ward, raised concerns about the possibility of antisocial behaviour.
He said: “We all know the problems when you have the sale and consumption of alcohol. My concern is people lose their inhibitions andstart getting aggressive.
“I was worried if that spilled over and there were children about.”
