AGRASSROOTS football team has been given a new kit from one of Canvey’s biggest stores.
Sainsbury’s, in the Knightswick Centre, has given Concord Rangers Under-8s football team a complete set of new kit, funded by the chain’s Community Grant scheme.
The initative is funded by customers who purchase bags for life at the stores.
All money from the sale of thebags is used to fund community initiatives.
The supermarket chain claims purchasing the bags is a more environmentally friendly way of shopping, as they could be used multiple times, as well as meaning customers make a contribution to their local community.
The youngsters’ football team were in need of a new kit for the season and asked the supermarket for help.
Sainsbury’s Canvey store manager, Kit Akister, said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it.
“When we heard that local team Concord Ranger were looking for replacement football kit, we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
