POLICE are warning residents in the Benfleet and Thundersley area to ensure that they lock-up after a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the area.
Two properties were targeted in Hart Road, Benfleet on September 12.
In one property cash and jewellery was taken after thieves forced their way in and in the other the burglar was unsuccessful in getting in.
Pc Ian Hopgood who is investigating said: "Can I remind everyone of the importance of securing doors and windows and general security around your home. Please don't make your home an easy target for opportunistic burglars by leaving windows open."
Anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously in their local area, or strange vehicles, should call police immediately.
