A PERSONAL trainer from Leigh has bagged an invite to Miami to compete for the bodybuilding title of World Champion 2013.
Lorna Macdonald, 29, received the invitation after achieving second place at the British Finals in Manchester, on Sunday.
She will compete against people from across the globe for the accolade on November 2.
Lorna, of Herschell Road, said: “I’m over the moon with how far I’ve come. Competing in the world finals is all I’ve ever wanted.
“Coming second in the British finals is blinding and it was such a proud moment just to be there on stage.”
Lorna battled five other women from across the UK in the Women’s Physique category in the competition, which was hosted by the Drug Free Athletes Coalition.
The competition had three rounds – a pre-judging contest, an individual 60-second posing routine to music and a final posedown on stage featuring all six competitors.
Lorna said: “I’d practised my routine, morning, noon and night in the run-up to the competition, but I was still nervous on the day.
“I loved every minute of being on stage, and my physique was a lot leaner and tighter than before, so it shows I’m improving with every competition.”
Lorna is now planning her preparations for her World Final debut.
She said: “I’ve taken some time to rest and get my body fuelled.
“Winning would mean the absolute world to me, because it would mean all my hard work has paid off.”
