STANFORD-le-Hope favourite Rylan Clark has taken time out of his jam-packed schedule to return to his roots.
The local star who came to fame on the X Factor and now presents ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ visited Corringham children’s charity Barnardo’s to donate some items to the store as well as meet staff and volunteers.
The visit was filmed for This Morning as part of their Take a Moment campaign which aims to encourage people to complete a small act of kindness and give something back to their local community. Money raised goes towards ITV’s Text Santa Appeal of which Barnardo’s is a beneficiary charity.
Rylan said: “The great feeling you get from taking a moment to brighten someone’s day can’t be underestimated. I really enjoyed meeting the Barnardo’s volunteers and was really taken back by how much they appreciated me coming in and making a donation.
“So go out there, make a difference in your local community and make sure you register your act of kindness on the ‘This Morning’ website.”
Diane Green, Barnardo’s area business manager, said: “It was great to have Rylan pop by our Corringham shop this week. He kindly donated several items of clothing, some of which he wore on the X Factor tour and he enjoyed talking to staff and volunteers.
“We are encouraging people to sign up to the ‘Take a Moment’ campaign and take part in a small act of kindness as this will in turn help fund Barnardo’s work in the local area.”
