SIX schoolboys have been arrested after two break-ins at the same house in Hadleigh.

The lads, aged between 12 and 15, were taken in by police after reports of a break-in at the home, in Prittle Close, on Monday.

Police believe the boys may have been involved in a burglary at the same property six days earlier in which £3,000 of property, including two samurai swords, was taken before the house was pelted with eggs.

The boys were arrested after neighbours spotted them in the back garden and called the police.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “We came out in to the street and there were about four or five police cars and dog units.

“That’s when we saw boys in what looked like school uniform being led off by police.

“Our homes back on to West Wood and we have been told there have been a number of incidents in the area, so it is worrying.

“I suppose we really just need to be on our guard.”

The neighbour said they understood the boys had gone back to the property to return the things they had taken in the earlier incident.

Police confirmed the owner of the property had recovered most of the things taken in that first incident. A spokesman said: “Detectives are investigating.

“The first break-in happened when thieves smashed a window of the property and stole various items including two samurai swords, to the value of £3,000.

“On Monday police received another report of a break-in and when officers arrived they arrested four schoolboys before arresting two more boys. The majority of property stolen from the house has been retrieved.”

Nobody could confirm which school the boys attended. The boys have been bailed until November 14.
