GENEROUS film lovers on Canvey helped raise hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity.

The Moviestarr, in Eastern Esplanade, held a cinema night last month to help support the Indee Rose Trust, based on Charfleets Industrial Estate.

As part of the event, James Parkin, owner of the cinema, donated all of the ticket sales for romantic comedy About Time to the children’s charity.

Around 100 people attended the event, raising £500 for the trust.

Steve Murphy, patron for the Indee Rose Trust, said: “It is a lot money for the charity so we are very grateful to the cinema and everyone who came along. With the way times are at the moment, its not always easy for a business to be able to do that. That money could have gone in their pockets but instead it came to us, which is fantastic.”

The Indee Rose Trust provides help and support to families who have a child with a brain or spinal tumour.

It was set up in 2009 by the family of Indee Rose Dopson who died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was just three.

Since starting up, the organisation has helped around 200 children youngsters by providing treasure boxes of gifts and toys.
