A CANVEY man had to be taken to hospital following an assault outside a pub.
The 27-year-old man was rushed to Southend Hospital with head injuries after a fight broke out outside the Haystack Pub in Furtherwick Road, Canvey in the early hours on Sunday (April 6).
Police were called to the pub at around 2am following reports there had been an attack.
A 19-year-old man from Canvey was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
He was released after questioning pending further inquiries.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at around 1:50am following reports a man in his 20s sustained possible head injuries. We sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance. The man was taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment.”
