A DETERMINED mum is skydiving with a group of friends to raise £10,000 for the charity supporting her seriously- ill son.

Dawn Pisani is trying to raise the cash after her son, Joey, was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Mrs Pisani, who lives on Canvey, says the Indee Rose Trust has helped her family immensely and she believes it is time to give something back.

The illness left the four-yearold blind in his left eye and he also suffers with low bone density meaning he will receive hormone replacement therapy and growth hormone injections for the rest of his life.

Mum-of-two Mrs Pisani, 38, has started a fundraising campaign in a bid to raise £10,000 for the trust and is hoping others will help her reach the target.

She said: “I started this all because of Joey, just to say thank you for all their support. It would be fantastic if we can support this local charity. They do so much for others.”

Mrs Pisani, who also has a fiveyear- old daughter, Amelia, has already raised more than £3,000 with the help of her friends despite starting the campaign last month.

Little Tewkes nursery in Dovervelt Road and St Joseph’s Catholic School, in Vaagen Road, held fancy dress days to raise money for the worthy cause.

Mrs Pisani has also organised a skydive with 25 friends and a fire walk event through the island next month.

Since being diagnosed with the tumour in October 2011, Joey has been sent a personalised treasure box from the Indee Rose Trust and the family also have free access to the charity’s holiday home in Kent.

The trust, based on Canvey, was set up in memory of Indee Rose Dopson, who died aged three from an inoperable brain tumour, in June 2009.

Mrs Pisani has already signed up more than 100 people on Canvey to join the campaign and is hoping more will follow to help help her reach the target.

She said: “It’s a brilliant charity.

"My campaign is all about local people getting together and pulling together to raise money for a local charity.”
