The heartbroken family of a schoolboy who lost his fight for life have paid tribute to a young man who "touched the lives of everyone he met".
Adam Hattley, 14, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in July 2005 and died on Christmas Eve.
His funeral service has taken place at the Parish Church of St Mary, Chadwell St Mary.
Mum Jean, 56, of River View, Chadwell St Mary, said: "We could have filled the church twice over.
"Adam touched the lives of everyone he met.
"He was a very generous and loving young man and always did his best to help people".
Adam, who attended Grays School and Media Arts College, was determined to carry on despite his illness and even received an achievement award for continuing his studies.
Dad Roy, and uncle, Terry Hattley, are planning to set up a website in Adam's memory to help raise awareness of brain tumours.
Roy, 48, said: "We want to help other families who are in the same position, keep Adam's memory going and thank everyone for all their kindness."
Before he lost his battle for life Adam enjoyed some amazing experiences including, a trip to Orlando, Florida, last March and dinner at White Hart Lane with Tottenham Hotspurs chairman, Daniel Levy.
Spurs' players also donated a stairlift to Adam and the chairman's wife donated ramps which were installed at his home.
Jean said: "We would like to thank everybody, especially Dee Vyrnes, Kevin George and Nicola Day and staff on the Wagtail Ward at Basildon Hospital."
