A CONTROVERSIAL 7ft seawall across Shoebury Common has been approved, despite massive opposition.
Southend councillors have given the go-ahead for the £5million seawall, designed to protect more than 350 homes and businesses in Shoebury.
The decision comes despite 1,744 letters of objection.
The Friends of Shoebury Common had fought the plans for almost two years.
