A TRANSSEXUAL who complained to police she was being abused by yobs after having a sex change operation has pleaded guilty to wasting police time.
Miranda Lee, 44, of Crowborough Road, Southend, admitted making a false report to police after she was caught out on camera.
Police had put up the secret camera at Lee’s home following concerns about her behaviour.
She contacted officers claiming that yobs had removed a safety camera she had put up for protection, but the secret police footage showed she had removed it herself.
Lee appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to one count of wasting police time after an original charge of perverting the course of justice for falsely reporting a number of crimes between September 24 and October 2 last year, was dropped by prosecutors.
Alan Hurst, defending, said: “Miss Lee in 2009 had a gender realignment operation. Since then she has suffered immense pain. She’s receiving treatment for that, but it’s believed it will never be resolved.
“There’s also psychological treatment, and for that she has an appointment later this month for a psychological assessment.”
He said that Lee had been subjected to attacks previously but that her medication due to her ongoing pain had caused her to forget her own actions on that occasion.
Lee was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15.
