A MAN has died after collapsing at Basildon Market.
The man, in his 50s, was walking through the market towards the toilets when he collapsed at the side of Goodfillers Cafe just after 2pm this afternoon.
An air ambulance flew to help just after 2.30pm and landed in the car park behind the Towngate Theatre. Passersby said police then blue-lighted paramedics to the scene.
Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man is thought to be a regular market customer.
A spokesperson from Essex Police said: “A man died in Basildon during the afternoon of Tuesday April 15.
“Police were contacted by the ambulance service shortly before 2.30pm following reports a man was seriously injured outside the Beehive pub in Southernhay.
“Officers arrived and found paramedics trying to save the life of a man who was in his 50s. He was certified dead at the scene.”
