THE family of a tragic young boy will finally get answers about how he died four years after he passed away.
Jason Treloar, or Jay as he was known, died aged 11 from a ruptured artery in his heart, just days before he was due to have health check up.
The former pupil at Northwick Park Primary School, in Third Avenue, Canvey, died at Southend Hospital on April 24, 2010.
However, an inquest into his death will only be heard later this year.
The date was set during a preinquest review held yesterday.
Coroner Caroline Beasley- Murray said: “This is unfortunately a very old matter, with it being almost four years old.
“I was not the coroner for Southend at the time this was reported by my predecessor.
Since July I have been coroner for the whole of Essex, so I have inherited the Southend matters.
“The court is extremely interested in keeping a grip on this matter.”
The court heard statements and evidence from Jay’s postmortem examination.
It also heard some paramedics have still not come forward to give statements.
They have been ordered to be given to the coroner’s court by April 25.
Doctors predicted Jay would never be able to walk after he was born with a double curvature of the spine, dislocated elbows and no left hip.
However, he stunned doctors by finding a way to walk short distances.
He used a wheelchair for long distances and regularly went to Great Ormond Street Hospital for treatment.
The inquest will be heard on June 17.
