MORE than £100,000 worth of tyres have been stolen from a depot in a double sting.
Thieves have targeted Michelin Tyre depot in Bramston Link, Laindon twice in ten days stealing more than 750 tyres.
Raiders cut open the side curtain of the trailer of a lorry at the site and stole 150 tyres worth more than £27,000 between 8pm on Monday March 31 and 8am on Tuesday April 1.
The same method was used on Thursday April 10, when 607 tyres were stolen from the back of another lorry at the site at around 3am.
A brown Audi coupe car and a white seven and a half tonne truck were seen close by at the time.
Police today launched an appeal for information.
Investigating officer PC Emily Lurton said: "These are significant quantities of tyres and it would have taken the best part of hour to remove them in the second case.
“If anyone saw any suspicious activity in the area or has been offered these items for sale I would very much like to hear from them.”
Anyone with information should call her at Basildon police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
